Happy thanksgiving
... to all of you (crazy Americans, nobody really knew why they're having this holiday...) ! Adrian took Florentina out to spend some quality time with us inside the house. She was extremely happy, especially because she survived: "Scramble" was killed last weekend and was served as a mini-turkey on the family Lipp's Thanksgiving meal....
Getting to know the place
4th week coming up....flies have fun if you're timing (that's how they twist the phrase here anyway)...starting to feel "at home"
Ballard is a great neighbourhood, near to everything, but quiet and safe. The housemates are wonderful, and most of all, very "cool". I'm glad I ended up here, the housing situation provides me a zen state of mind, allowing to focus on all exciting stuff I need/want to do. Moreover, all people that a some stage have rented a room here, are still hanging around in Seattle, which makes it a huge "friends" community (next year Adrian will be celebrating the first "5 year reunion"). I haven't checked out the hot tub in the garlic garden yet, find Ted & Adrian pictured at my "welcoming" party last thursday. Lot's of people came over,
we had great food (mashed belgian potatoes, and a huge chocolate birthday cake(everybody believed it anyway) for Toon) and a bottle of wine each...
Seattle is a city with the soul of a village. It's so relaxed and laid back, but at the same time it has all what you'd expect from a decent city. The surroundings are beautiful and the people are friendly. You can imagine why I start liking this place :o) The only downside is bars closing at 2am and afterwards clubs serving water (well, maybe that's not too bad for my hangover management...).
This weekend I checked out 2 really "American" sports: friday went to see an NBA game between the Seattle Super Sonics and the Chicago Bulls. The Sonics won and the Keyarena got really
crazy. The cheerleaders were spectacular and energy boozing through the crowd was fulfilling all my pre-imaginations about these kind of commercialized American sports events. The bar hopping afterwards with Toon and Stein made last friday a memorable evening out.
Today, on a lazy sunday, I saw national top team Seattle Seahawks vs the San Francisco 49'ers in a close 27-25 win and learned a lot about the rules of America's number one sports game: Football.
More adventures soon, I finish this letter with some more images taken in places that might hold some importance in my nearby US future... :o)
